Chris was in LA for 5 days at Nickelodeon for work. It is torture when your spouse gets to go somewhere cool WITHOUT YOU. It brought back the sentimental yet horrible memories of Chris living in Chicago for 5 MONTHS while I was here in Salt Lake. The hours spent face timing was incalculable and the amount of time we spent together during those months can basically be added up to barely two weeks. Chris and I haven’t spent too much time apart since we’ve been married… Which was a much needed break after the long distance dating. I missed Chris the whole week while I went to school, cleaned, played words with friends, ate chick fil a, watched netflix, played casino with grandma, taught dance, edited. (watched more netflix.) I was super productive hahahaha. FINALLY, Chris came home Friday with Flowers from Jolley’s in hand and said “Can I take you out tonight?” Love that kid.
We got drinks at shivers. YUM. Then Chris decided he really wanted to go bowling. I agreed and we headed to Olympus Hills Bowling Alley. The reason we go to Oly hills besides the fact it is a great time is because they have our favorite arcade game: Big Buck Hunter SAFARI. We arrive at the bowling alley excited to start the night with Big Buck Hunter. WE LOOK EVERYWHERE. They got rid of it. Holding back tears Chris decided we would go to a different bowling alley. This time we head to Sue & Rich’s. Guess What? The coolest, most ghetto, cheap bowling alley is CLOSED. CLOOOOOSED for good! *wipes away tear* On to the next alley. Fat Cats on 900 E. It is always packed on the weekends but the plus side… It has tons of arcade games. We waited in line to buy a round of bowling and get our shoes for about 15 minutes. When we got to the front of the line we both looked at each other and Chris said “Do we really wanna bowl?” Got right out of line and headed to the arcade. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the Safari version of Big Buck Hunter but the regular one did just fine. We played a couple of games and headed home. Quite the date night right? I love that I can do anything with Chris and still laugh and have a good time. That’s what your spouse should be for you. A safe place, someone who can make any situation better. Chris is that and more for me.
At least we got some good pictures. Chris had my camera all week in LA and I had been craving it!!!! Here is what we got!
Here’s the thing. I wished I loved hiking… I really do. I haven’t found my love for it… yet. Hopefully, I will soon or eventually. Luckily, there are some outdoor things to do besides that for now. For example:
MAX Adventure Zip Line in Provo Canyon
The guides were helpful and the lines were fun and fast. They use a great braking system and participants go on 5 zip lines from start to finish. You can get some great deals if you schedule a spot with several people! So get a group of 7 or 8 and go for $20 cheaper. I recommend going earlier in the morning so you aren’t in the scorching heat. We went at 9AM and it was perfect timing. Little kids will have blast too!
The last line is the longest and takes your right back where you parked your car. BOOYA.
Oceanside as usual didn’t disappoint. Let me give you a few reasons why it is and forever will be my favorite trip.
It’s where my cousins went from cousins to best friends and bridesmaids.
MORNING ZUMBA / WERQ / TONING
They are second to Utah for prettiest sunsets.
You learn to prepare to be surprised. (my poor dad)
THE VIEW FROM THE BEACH HOUSE… (perfect for seal and dolphin sightings… which occur daily)
Endless searching for sand crabs with Clara
Daring strangers to make a cooler sandcastle than us. (it’ll never happen.)
The Girls pedicure outing to happiness salon.
Mostly because it’s the place where some of my most cherished memories are.
This year was even better because my best friend got to spend the whole week with me there. We even got to celebrate our six months of marriage. (not too exciting but it’s crazy how time it flying!) and California is the only place where I will let Chris have a mustache.
You get to spend everyday laughing with Nate the Great.
Because I spend several wonderful hours planning the Annual Oceanside Jeopardy game with Missy.
We even went digital this year. Missy had all the questions and answers on her iPad.
The Categories this year:
Sing- A -Long
and of course… Is That a Challenge????
Thanks for another great trip! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!!!
(Thanks to all of you whose instagrams I stole.. Love you.)
The George family takes a vacation to Lake Powell every summer. This was my first time on the trip and I was introduced to long standing traditions. I added a few of my own and we had the most amazing trip. Some of the traditions include: a midnight dip in the lake, catching lizards or mice (gross), braiding hair, just dance competitions and parties, sleeping on the top deck under the stars, eating lots of candy, etc.
First things first. A Seadoo ride to make yourself familiar with the area. There are some sweet coves.Next is a leisurely surf ride behind the boat. SURFS UP RICHARD! kick it up a notch with some heavyweights blob action.

I’d love to hear some of your favorite things to do in LP! Please comment and let me know! Thanks for reading!!! #rightswiped
a time of fun memories with loved ones OR a time of wanting to bang your head against the dashboard
What makes a good road trip you ask??????
1. Snacks - Don’t overlook the importance of good snacks. Have balance of sweet and salty and healthy and junk. LOTS OF WATER.
2. Playlist - The music sets the tone for the whole trip. I made a playlist that is full of sing-a-long classics, alternative crowd pleasers, and occasional pump up jams. Follow me on spotify to get the playlist!
3. A Good Audio Book – I absolutely hate reading in the car. Headache central. Listening to a book is a great alternative. Unbroken is an amazing story and Chris and I have been absolutely captivated by it. It’s a great book to listen to on a long road trip.
4. CONVERSATION - Pivotal part of a car ride. I like to bring the game table topics along. However, if you do not happen to have the game just look up on your phone some fun talking topics.
5. LAUGHS - Pandora stand up comedy stations are THE BOMB. (yes I just said the bomb) Listen to Jim Gaffigan, Gary Gulman, Brian Regan, John Mulaney… Etc. Good laughs with everyone the whole trip.
Bill’s Island at Island Park in Idaho is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The Walkers were so nice to have us at their cabin!Shelb and Cam and the TitanicChris was a part of the Playmill cast in 2010. It was a blast to see where he worked for a summer and how much fun he had. Playmill was awesome I was so glad to finally see it. My husband is such a thespian hahahaWe gotta celebrate America with sparklers! The kiddos loved these pics!BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE WALKERS!!!!! THANK YOU!
Another adventure! I mean every trip to McDonald’s is an adventure!… Right? When the children are in need of some happy time (occasionally) it’s off to Mickey Dees. Never underestimate the power of a happy meal, cheap toy, and a PlayPlace. Come equipped with wet wipes and hand sanitizer. All smiles here!!!
Watching kids day after day can become quite boring… Yes, boring, even with 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 year olds. I’ve been trying to take the different kids I watch somewhere fun, cheap, and anywhere that isn’t their own house. This week, a mini hike at ensign peak. (When I say hike it’s really just a walk and a place for the kids to look out and see the city) Perfect for the outside obsessed youngens who want to let some energy out but don’t want to spend hours walking up hill. 166 Ensign Vista Drive is the start of the trail head. If you are with a two year old, like I was, don’t worry about making it all the way up to Ensign Peak just go part way up to the amphitheater and other side spots. Ella & Claire had a blast pointing out the capitol building, temple, and University of Utah.
