March has been a great month.  Learned so much. I love making progress in my life.

We kicked of the month with the Les Femmes concert at the Velour.  Luna Lune killed it as usual.  Chris is now obsessed with the Blue Aces.

Idaho Visits

One of my favorite things that has happened this month is Chris’ flag football team.  My brothers, Adam and Zeke, and my Cousins, Devan and Mckay, and family friend, Casey Taylor, all played on a intramural flag football team at the U.  It was so fun for me to go watch them play every Thursday night.  Not to mention they won the championship game.  Chris pulled his hamstring that game and has a ginormous bruise to prove it.  Such a fun thing to do with family and friends!

Chris’ company, Struck, does advertisements for Ski Utah, so this year we didn’t even need to buy a pass but got free passes to several ski resorts.  It was so fun to take our sister-in-law, Asia, skiing for her FIRST time! She was awesome! Gotta love spring skiing.

Partied in St. George over my spring break with the dance studio I teach for, Razz & Rhythm Dance Academy.  Our little dancers did so awesome!

March is also the best time of year for us because it’s when we met!!! Our first date was March 21, 2013.  Man time flies.

My mom’s side of the family always has a family reunion in March.  The Cook family reunion this year was probably one of my favorites ever.  Each of us found a story about our Grandma and Grandpa Cook to share form someone who knew them.  We also got to listen to darling Aunt Miriam tell stories and it was amazing to hear about how beloved my grandparents were.

At the beginning of March I had the best idea for Chris’ 28th birthday.  Chris’ fave thing in the world to do is laser tag.  Soooo… I planned a surprise partay at laser quest.  He had no idea! So fun. Love my twelve year old hearted boy.11130148_10153166162736250_1684115100146470868_n

The most important thing I learned this month, is that God has a plan.  My older brother, who we call Baby Egan, was a stillborn.  My mom was only about 24 weeks pregnant when she went into labor on March 29, 1993.  Chris was born March 29, 1987.  This gives me some sort of comforting feeling that I can’t quite describe that they have the same birthdays.  It is so precious that we get to celebrate both Chris and Baby Egan on the same day. Pretty crazy the plans Heavenly Father has.  If Baby Egan would have lived I wouldn’t be here.  So grateful that I do get to be here, with the man I love, and that I can be with my brother and whole family again.  I love eternal families!!!

The other fun thing I did this month…  I helped my cousin make her family theme for 2015.  Every year she has a different theme and frames them.  I loved the idea so Chris and I talked about what we wanted to focus on this year.  We decided that we needed to be more supportive, more kind, and more loving to each other and everyone else.  Loved how both turned out.jentheme familytheme2015

Spring and Summer Favorites

I am not a fashion blogger nor claim to be but these things are gonna be in my beach tote all season long.

1. Jelly Shoes – I already have three pairs of them.  JuJu Footwear and Soda Shoes has some cheap cute pairs!

2.  Floppy Sunhat – This red one I found at my grandma’s!

3. Cat Eye Sunglasses – Picked these stunnas up at Hot Topic.  Check at Proof Eyewear too!

4. Hand Made Earrings – Local farmer’s markets and boutiques like Katie Waltman Jewelry should do the trick!

5. Candy – SweeTarts, War Heads, and Blow Pops.  YUM.

6. SCRUNCHIES – talk about throwing it back to the 90s.  These things save my life on occasion.

7. Bright Lip Crayons – Easy to apply and a eye catcher… BOOYA.

8. Clever Graphic Shirt – Cats, block letter words, etc.

9. Tumbler – Drinking lots of water is much easier when it is with a straw in a cute cup. Walgreens.

10. One Piece – One pieces make being active this summer easier.  Geometric patterns = extra plus!

Downtown Gems

Good things about living downtown #7

The Oasis Cafe & Golden Braid Books

This place is a total tucked away sanctuary!  A beautiful restaurant that also has a quiet patio.  Oasis Cafe has a great brunch menu, however we made it there for dinner. It’s located at 151 South 500 East.  So convenient to make a reservation using Yelp on your phone.  This place is really popular for lunch so make sure to book ahead!   Relaxation and  meditation isn’t far away with the joint bookstore.  Many of their themed books specialize in mind, body, and soul health.  So fun to look through their selection of books.  #consciousliving

The french bread… the right amount of crunch and fluffiness.  You could tell it was very fresh.

I got the Mediterranean Salad. You can choose from Salmon, Shrimp, Chicken. A great thing about Oasis is it offers healthy vegan options with many of its plates.  You can also get tofu.  It was to die for.  One of their core entrees.  yukon gold potatoes•roasted red onion•olives• tomatoes•feta cheese•hummus•field greens•roasted garlic vinaigrette

Chris and Richard both got the Udon Peanut Stir fry.  It’s flavorful and fresh but if you don’t like peanut flavor I do not recommend this dish.   Filled with: tofu or tempeh•wok seared vegetables•udon noodles spicy peanut sauce•coconut, peanut, and cashew crumble

Sally tried the Grilled Salmon.  The grilled tomatoes were flavorful and perfectly cooked.  Another one of Oasis’ customer faves.  honey/lavender polenta cake•arugula•saba•merlot vinegar extra• virgin olive oil•grilled tomatoIMG_3264

With a dinner that good we had to indulge!  My first time eating Crème Brulèe and it was such a sensation.  Tart raspberries and creamy custard where have you been all this time!!!

Cheers! It’s Springtime!

Utah weather is absolutely psychotic.  I can leave my house in snowy freezing slush only to be at the park a few hours later lying in the grass listening to the birds chirping.  After a few days of rain and snow spring was definitely in the air today!  Happy Spring peeps, go get some sunshine, feel the grass between your toes, and smile because Spring is here to stay.  (Hopefully, I can’t predict the weather… probably will be cold sometimes… that’s Utah.)

This day called for a sunset walk in the avenues of Salt Lake City.

As usual the Utah Sunset was on point.

Doesn’t my husband make such a cute dog????

Spring and bright colors go hand in hand. Though Chris doesn’t especially love my combo of Orange and Pink

Flowers are HERE!  Had to refrain from picking the neighbors fresh blooms

Always doodling… pen, crayons, dandelions, etc.
